Your RAIC for Toronto Pearson is valid for a five-year period and we would like to remind you to please take note of its expiry date, as it is a condition of employment. The recommended timeline to commence your application process is four to six months prior to the expiry date.

Please be advised that it is the employee’s responsibility to advise the company about their current RAIC status, i.e., not holding any RAIC, changing from Purple to Yellow or vice versa. If your RAIC status has been changed, please send an email to YYZWorkforceEmployeeADM@aircanada.ca with photos of the front and back side of your RAIC attached or in person in the Workforce Planning Office.
NEW RAIC RENEWAL PROCESS FOR YYZAPT AIR CANADA EMPLOYEES:

Note: You will be required to make an appointment to drop off your initial renewal paper works in Step #4, and you’ll need to make another appointment when your RAIC card is ready for pick up. - If you require a RAIC renewal, please send an email from your Air Canada email account to YYZWorkforceEmployeeADM@aircanada.ca.
- Our team will fill out the employer section of the TSC Application for you and send it back to your AC email address. You are responsible for filling out the remaining sections of the document and then submitting your application. The AC Manager will sign your application and send back to you, where the applicant must sign, upload their documents, and send it to Transport Canada. Please see the attached TSC DocuSign document for step-by-step instructions and videos. It is imperative to ensure that all your personal information and documents are correct and uploaded. Failure to obtain the RAIC in a timely manner will result in Suspension – Disciplinary Action.

- Complete the Airport Security And Safety Awareness Training Program:
Our Airport Security and Safety Awareness training course is a mandatory step for all new and renewing airport employees applying for a RAIC. This training is mandatory for:
- A new airport employee applying for a Transportation Security Clearance to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC);
Do not write on the TSC form, including edits or corrections. Incomplete forms and handwritten forms will not be accepted. If you provide false information or misrepresent yourself, your application will not be processed. - An existing RAIC holder applying to renew their Transportation Security Clearance and RAIC before expiry;
- A returning RAIC holder who has not worked at Toronto Pearson for more than 12 months and requires a RAIC; and
- An existing RAIC holder transferring from another Canadian airport to Toronto Pearson requiring a YYZ RAIC.
You will be required to complete a 10-minute validation quiz on the Airport Security Awareness training course at the Pass Office during your application process on step #5 below. Learn more in this advisory.
- A new airport employee applying for a Transportation Security Clearance to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC);

Visit the Pass Permit Control Office on the date of your appointment to submit your application.
You must bring these original documents with you:
- A hard copy of your completed TSCA DocuSign application that has been authorized by your Company Signing Authority;
- A hard copy of your completed RAIC application (PDF, 977 KB) that has been authorized by your Company Signing Authority ;
- A completed Keycard Application form (PDF, 990 KB), required only for GTAA employees who need keycard access to the Administration building and airport employees who need access to the transborder areas;
- A printed copy of your “Airport Security and Safety Awareness Training Program” PDF certication.

A. If you were born in Canada, you must bring these pieces of original identification:
Canadian birth certificate (only Quebec birth certificates issued after January 1994 are accepted) and Valid Canadian passport
Note: If your passport is no longer valid you must bring a valid Canadian government-issued photo identification e.g. valid driver’slicense
B. If you were born outside of Canada, you must bring these pieces of original identification:
- Canadian citizenship card OR valid permanent resident card

6. WAIT FOR YOUR SECURITY CLEARANCE:
The average wait time is three to six months. During Transport Canada’s review process, which includes a background check, Transport Canada or the Pass Permit Control Office may need to contact you, so remember to inform us of any contact information changes. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your application.
- You can check the status of your application, after you’ve been to your verification appointment at the enrolment site or Pass Control Office.
It may take up to 10 working days, after your in-person verification appointment for your application status to update. You’ll have to provide your Transportation Security Clearance (TSC) number. - While you’re waiting for your TSC and your RAIC is about to expired, you should apply for a temporary Security Control Pass / Yellow Raic, which is valid for three months. More information at the bottom of this webpage.
7. RAIC STATUS HAS BEEN GRANTED:
Once your TSC has been granted, you may apply for a RAIC. To apply for a RAIC, you must bring the following documents to the Pass Office:
- A hard copy of your completed RAIC application (PDF, 977 KB) that has been authorized by your Company Signing Authority
- All security items previously issued to you by the Pass Permit Control Office.
In addition to your personal ID, the Pass Office will also record your fingerprints and iris photo to create your RAIC.

YELLOW RAIC (SECURITY CONTROL / TEMPORARY PASS):
If you do not have a RAIC, you may be eligible for a temporary pass. This temporary pass allows an employee to work in a restricted area until Transport Canada grants a transportation security clearance. While waiting for your TSC, you may need to extend your Security Control Pass, which is valid for three months.
NOTE: YELLOW RAIC (CLOSE TO EXPIRY DATE)
- Fill in a Short Form (Application for Restricted Area Identification Card – RAIC form) and have the bunker sign the form.
- Take the Short Form to the Pass Permit Office for an extension. (No appointment is necessary for this type of service )
